AM

Yesterday, we worked to expose and define rocks in the trench.  These stones are medium-sized (10-20 cm in diameter) and are confined to the western half of the trench; they extend southward from exposed bedrock to the north of the trench.  These stones appear to be natural or erosional.  Based on yesterday’s definition efforts, these stones appear to overlie a new, more yellow deposit.  Therefore, we began the day by trimming the trench’s baulk walls, in preparation at least for the closing of the locus, if not the closing of the trench; the paucity of material culture indicates that we are unlikely to excavate any meaningful or secure archaeological contexts.

After trimming the baulk walls, we decided to close the trench.  The floor was scraped, roots were clipped, and elevations taken in preparation for taking closing photos of both Locus 2 and the trench tomorrow morning.

PM

We continued trimming baulk walls, clipping roots, and scraping the trench floor in preparation for the closing of the trench.
