Tile: 1; Pottery: 1/2
The cut extending to below the stone layer was completed giving the trench a depth of 40 cm (S) and 60 cm (N) to the east and 50-55 cm (S) to 75-80 cm in the west. The soil remained greyish-brown and claylike with a few small stones. Tile and plaster were mostly small and very worn. One piece of vitrified tile was found. Pottery was also usually small and worn. At the very lowest levels small flecks of carbon were found with more to the west-central area. Also, towards the trench floor there may be the beginnings of a soil change to a lighter-colored looser soil.
In addition to the carbon one small piece of glassy slag was found and, right over the trench floor, a few fragments of very burned, blackened tile. A large piece of bronze (slag?) was found at a depth of ~ 80 cm (i.e. right over the trench floor). It appeared heavy and reasonably well-preserved. It was not found in an area with any noticeable concentration of material or carbon.
