Conclusion

Conclusion

Excavation of T-80 was successful for the 2015 season. The trench was opened to explore the area south of the linear stone packing (wall) in T-57 ( AJC VI- pg 255 ) to further clarify it. This trench is between T-60 ( MLL II ) and T-57 ( AJC VI ) and therefore in the interior of the two walls that run through those trenches. No architectural features were found and very little was recovered in terms of artifacts. However a flaking soil was revealed underneath Locus 2 with pieces of bedrock poking through the soil. This surface was scraped and very little appeared in the scrape or on the surface. This flaking soil appears to have been a leveling course done to flatten areas where bedrock was close to the surface. Another goal of T-80 was to recover dateable material from a secure context in relation to the features; none were found that definitely could date the flakey soil. The only artifact of note from the trench was a biconical spindle whorl ( 20150036 ) that was recovered close to the surface. However this form is a common one from the site (see 19810186 , 19820072 , 19970096 ) and used continually during the sites occupation. Taken with the other information gathered for the last two excavation seasons, it appears that T-80 came down onto a sub-floor surface south of the northern wall of a possible monumental structure in Tesoro west.
