AM :

The rain yesterday evening moistened the soul, but not to a point where work had to be delayed this morning. A pick pass was done in Locus 5 , around the bedrock, and sorted. The soil remains a loose, sandy, olive / yellow soil yielding little to no terra cotta or pottery. As that was going on, defining of the rocks in Locus 6 was also done. After the pick pass it was decided that the pocket of loose, sandy, soil found in Locus 5 was not warranting its own Locus, partially because of the difficulty in working in such a small area. Locus 5 and Locus 6 were then closed, photographs and elevations taken, and they were merged into Locus 7 . Once opening photographs and elevations were taken two pick passes were done in the northern meter, around the bedrock, to level the Locus. The soil remains a loose, sandy, olive / yellow soil that is yielding little to no terra cotta. The soil is still wet from the rains so it is clumping together a bit. Baulk walling was then done to better define the Locus and the trench. As Locus 7 lowers, the bedrock in the North West corner extends further south and the stones in the southern meter are becoming more exposed. Rain then began to fall and no more digging was done for the day.
