CA 14
Test trench CA 14 was extended 2 meters west.
CA 13
Test trench CA 13 was continued to a
depth of 40 centimeters at the west end, at which point galestra was hit and digging discontinued. 1.30 meters from the west end, bedrock was hit 30 centimeters from the top. The remaining area east of the bedrock to the west end of the earlier trench produced 1/2 box of small tile pieces, some 20 fragments of pottery, and the following:
- Find 5
- depth of 45 cm
-
small frieze fragment (with campstool?)
- Find 6
- depth of 50 cm
-
small frieze fragment
- Find 7
-
gorgon head fragment
A new cut was then made to the north, 1.5 meters from the east end, 2.5 meters wide, and 3 meters long to the north. The greater part of this cut was composed of a tree stump, with bedrock on the west at a depth of 40 cm.
In all, barely one box of tiles was collected during the day.
