Morning

Began the day by checking the measurements used ot identify T-25. A line was extended from the southwest corner of the Upper Building along the south wall for 47 meters. From there a right angle was deduced by triangulation, and a line was extended 28 meters (A-Z plus alpha and beta) south. This point should have marked the northwest corner of T-25 (1982 extension) - grid gamma/47. Although it was not exactly on the point, the measurement was close enough allowing for previous error.

Points were plotted for 4 meters heading east in grids gamma-epsilon and for .5 meters heading south in grids 46-47. This last extension is in order to excavate all of the tile and plaster in the southeast

corner of T-25. A profile was drawn.

Work was begun on widening the trench a half meter into grids zeta-46-47. A 10cm topsoil cut was made yielding some terracotta. The second cut brought the trench down to 20cm and was full of tile and pottery (90% of which is redware - and base/foot fragments). At the bottom of cut 2 a fairly even layer of plaster was encountered. The soil in cut 2 was laced with small yellow pockets.

Afternoon

Work continued cutting down grids zeta/46-47. Cut 3 yielded an intense amount of plaster and tile - much of it vitrified - and quite a bit of redware. At approximately 33cm there was a concentrated area of vitrified plaster and terracotta - especially in zeta-47. The soil in grid 47 seems to be more yellow, while in

grid 46 it is red-orange. Cut 3 came down to 33cm at the east end and 29cm at the west. Almost all of the large amount of pottery found was redware.

A fourth cut showed more and more burn (vitrified plaster and tile) - especially intense in grid 47. The soil appeared very red in zeta/46 - turning out to be a layer of vitrified terracotta. At the end of the day the new cut was 40cm deep at the east edge and 38cm deep at the west.
