Work continued on cut 2. The 20 cm layer was totally removed and we proceeded with another cut of approximately 20 cm in depth, starting from the I grid (43-47) and then turning north. Heavy burnt plaster and carbon and numerous sherds of varying types were once again encountered in this area.

In the afternoon, work continued on the 20 cm layer of cut 2, moving northward. In J-K/44-45, the burned plaster and carbon layer continued. Carbon and black earth seemed even heavier.
In K/44-45, the pottery was scarcer and stones were encountered, well below the level of the eastern fuondation wall. The stones seem to run in an east-west direction and may also be aligned with the end of the wall in K/43-44, which forms the doorway to room 3.
