Morning
Today we finished clearing off the brush and triangulating the points for the trenches. We also planned out our site dumps and made them.
Afternoon
We finished the trench area and site dump path. Then we set up a datum point between trenches CA46 and CA47, approx. 24 cm. above ground (hereafter depth will be recorded as b.d.- below datum) in meter 5N32W, to be shared by both trenches. Then opening depths were taken, 5 in all, and an opening cut made in the SE corner. We picked approx. \xbd m. north and across the entire 3 meter E-W axis (see diagram 1). The soil was clumpy, crumbly humus- very dark and moist due to the large amount of rain the last few days. A small terracotta piece was found in the SE corner that is small, approx. 2cm. length, 1 cm. width, and 1.5 cm. high. There is a large, rather linear, stone formation at the extreme north of the trench and extending westward into CA47 (see diagram 2).
