Photo taken.

Took a roughly 15 cm cut in the southern part of Y/16-17 and Z/16-17 and the western portion of Z/18.  The cut was made irregularily because of the concentration of rocks in the northern part of the trench (Y/16-18).  The soil throughout the cut was yellow to medium brown with some plaster and carbon.  The burn/destruction layer began to appear in places at the bottom of the cut.  Upon the completion of this cut, work was begun scraping off the rest of the yellow and medium brown soil in order to expose the burn/destruction lyaer.  This also included defining down around the stones in the northern part of the trench.  These stones appear to be very irregular and most of them are small (10-20 cm).  This work produced 1 latte box of pottery and bone, a few bits of bronze, and 1/3 of a cassetta of tile and plaster, as well as a few small bits of vitrified material.

Began craping down the area in alpha-beta/13-14.  The eastern baulk was also straightened out, as it angled westward in beta/14 about 5 cm.  This work produced 2/3 of alatte box of pottery and bone and 20-30 small bits of plaster and 1 small (5 cm) piece of tile.

Continued scraping in alpha-beta/13-14.  This worked produced 1/3 of a latte box of pottery and 15-20 small bits of plaster.

Began scraping in Y/13 to clarify the stratigraphy in this area.  The soil was dark gray-brown with carbon inclusions.  This work produced 1/6 of a latte box of pottery and bone and 10-12 fragments of plaster and tile.  A rocchetto fragment was also found (#8) in this area.

A rock in Y/14, next to the baulk, was removedalong with the soil beneath it, which was mostly reddish brown with plaster and carbon and dark brown with carbon.  This work produced {information not provided} latte box of pottery and bone and {information not provided} fragments of plaster.

Continued leveling and lowering the trench floor in Y-Z/16-18 to the upper surface of the burn/destruction stratum.  This work produced {information not provided} latte box of pottery and bone and {information not provided} fragments of tile and plaster.  Painted pottery (#9 and 10) was recovered from this area.  One fragment, the incised rim and neck of a vessel (#10), was recovered directly above the burn/destruction layer.
