Continued work in meters N 1-6, W 7-8 lowering the area to approximately 8-10 cm b.d.  The soil remained with that removed yesterday.  Work was then extended 2 m. to the east into meters N 1-6, W 5-6.  The soil in these meters was consistant with that found to the west- thickly matted roots and vegetal matter above a yellowish-brown soil.  Due to the consistency of the soil the Locus 2 designation will be maintained for this area.  Five small worn fragments of impasto and 55-60 worn pieces of terracotta (1-5 cm) were in this work.
