Introduction
The intention of additional excavation in the area of tesoro trench 25 will be to determine the extent of the wall running parallel to the south wall of the upper building. The wall, which is approximately 30 meters from the wouth wall of the upper building was first uncoverd during excavation of the southern extremity of the couble defense walls covered by the agger on the west flank of the upper building ( Please see J. Hare, Book One , pages 124-212; and specifically pages 194-212)
Tesoro trench 25 was initiated during the 1980 season. (Please see R. Lacy, Book One ). The grid system employed for the excavation of T-25 is based on co-ordinates running parallel and perpendicular to the south wall of the upper building.
Numerical Co-ordinates run parallel to the south wall of the upper building
from the west, outer flank of the upper building, progressing eastward.
Alphabetical Co-ordinates run perpendicular to the south wall of the upper building, progressing in a bouthern direction from A through Z and continuing in a southern direction from Alpha through Omega. (See page 60 for diagram of the area).
The first cut in the area of T-25 will be made in co-ordinates alpha-zeta/21-22. At present the area is covered with earth excavated from T-2 during 1978. A dump run extends laterally across the delta-zeta grids.
