Work continuing the clean-up operations north of the northern edge of the upper building wall included further excavation of grids G-I/45-40, G-I/36-37, and G-I/31-33. As yesterday, grids G-I/40-45 yielded good amounts of bucchero and many tile fragments. Grids G-I/36-37 yielded part of a tile fall yet to be removed. Grids G-I/31-33 yielded an
unusual terracotta fragment with a large hole pressed into its surface. Many tile fragments and pieces of bone were found as well as various quantities of grayware, impasto, and orangeware pottery.
At mid-morning, 3 of our Italian workers removed the remaining piles of earth in grids G-I/29-45.
