Started work at 7 a.m. Cleaned surface growth from trench and surrounding area. Established the meter grids of the trench by triangulation off the wall of the Upper Building.
Commenced removal of backfill from the area o f the trench in meters K-L(M)/64-65. The work was left unfinished and will be completed in tomorrow's work.
The backfill soil was muddy and contained approx. 40 worn pieces of tile and 10-15 badly worn pieces of ceramic. Also found was several small fragments of charcoal and one large fragment.
Initial photographs were taken of the trench.

Resumed clearing of backfill over meters K-L(M) 63-65. Work halted and left unfinished due to rain.
