Introduction

The area designated as Tesoro Trench 22 will consist of a rectangular cut perpendicular to the south wall of the upper building.  The area closest to the upper building wall was excavated previously as part of T-6F in 1968 (see IE I p.192 for drawing).

T-22 was laid out in accordance with the grid system devised by Fred Albertson for T-21, with which it is parallel (see FA I p.3 ).  Three meters wide by twenty meters long, the north end of the trench lies ten centimeters out from the upper building wall and between W-E meters 52-54, inclusive.  With meter "A" closest to the south wall of the upper building, the N-S meters run through "T." (see map , p.108).

Note: The area originally staked out through "T" was excavated only through "N."
