Pottery Summary

A particularly high concentration of pottery of all fabrics, including fineware bucchero, was recovered from meters ä- Ã¥/68-70.  This concentration was principally located between a depth of 30-65cm below the surface.  All of the pottery recovered in ä- Ã¥/68-70 was saved.  The pottery consisted of 40% coarseware, 30% impasto, 20% orangeware and 10% of other fabrics.  Many of the pottery fragments were large in size and relatively well preserved.  The good state of preservation of

this material contrasts notably with the pottery found further down the slope in meters A-H/68-70.  Very little of the pottery showed any sign of burning.  In addition, of particular importance were a number of impasto and coarseware fragments discovered in meters ä/68-70 which appear to be quite early in date.  These fragments were put aside for additional study in 1989.  All other pottery from T-27 ä- Ã¥/68-70 was consolidated for storage in A. Collins Book III Representative Pottery Box IV, Grids ä/ Ã¥-68-70.
