A-B-C-D 36 was excavated to a depth of 70cm. (see p.13, explaining the previous excavation of the top layers of girds Athrough C immdeiately to the south of the Upper Building Wall), reaching bedrock in C-D36. The burn layer as nt continuous in this area but only appeared in sporadic pockets some 80cm. Below the stone foundations of the Upper Building. The pottery fragments were xtermely numerous from the lower yellow soil above the burn layer and especially fromt he burn layer itself; 7 cartons of pottery, primarily coasr war and impasto adn 2 botxes of tiles. The pottery inclided an Italo-Corinthian oenochoe lip from the burn of A36, its probably base and some body pieces from B36, a bucchero high conical foot from B36, originally from a compote, a fragment from a bucchero moulded cup with scallopped decoration from B36, yellow, a large coarse ware bowl, only the

rim, from B36 burn. The highest concentration by far came in B36, where the bedrock found in C-D36 sloped downward benearth the level of the cut.

A small portion of P30 which had been left was finished.
