Backfill Summary

13

T-26 was backfilled with all meters at their current levels.  In summary, meters K-L-M-N/63-64 were at floor level of the southeast building.  Meters K-L(M)/69-70 were just slightly higher than floor level (115cm b.d. - 125cm b.d.).  Meters K-L-M/65-66 were left the highest at 75-85 cm b.d..  Meters K-L(M)/67-68 were halted at 110-120cm b.d.  The entire trench was covered with sections of clear, heavy plastic and backfilled from 30-60cm with dirt taken from M Wilcox's 1990 dump on the east side of the slope.  Two large burlap/plastic bags and 4cassette of pithos fragments were brought to the magazzino.  Particular care should be given to removing backfill in meters M/65 as a large risgepole fragment is projecting from the unexcavated baulk down near the floor level.  Also the large rock projecting from the 64-65 baulk in roughly meter M should be watched for.  The

earth has not been excavated from beneath this rock.
