Work began at 7am. We continued to remove Locus 1 from meters 50S 166E, 51S 166E, 50S 165E, and 51S 165E. The area was leveled with the cut made in meters 50S 167E and 51S 167E on June 30th. No work was done to the original baulk wall of T22 west ext today, but the 164E line at the trench was extended to the edge of the wal so the measurements could be made for a fragment of terracotta (possible stele fragments) within the wall.

The floor of the trench was swept with brooms and leveled with trowels. A soil change became evident at this point, so Locus 2 was defined. The soil of Locus 2 is characteristically light yellowish grey with white particualtes throughout.
Locus 2 opening depths
50S 167E 39.0 cm bd
52S 167E 38.0 cm bd
50S 164E 35.5 cm bd
52S 164E 37.5 cm bd
51.04S 165.59E 35.0 cm bd
Locus 2 extends the entire area of the trench. After opening depths were taken, a cut was amde in mater 50S 167E. Work on this meter is slowed dued to stumps, but the smaller stumps located along the 167E line were finally weakened enough to be removed. Meter 50S 167E was taken down to about 42 cm bd by the end of the work day. Before work ended, the baulk walls of the trench were trimmed.
