Chivatta C Trench 1 & 2

Brown humus mixed with large no's. 10 cm stones. Possible walls at A & B in side trench, further digging turned negative. Low count 10-20 fragments for entire trench. Undisturbed soil encountered in trench A1 at approximately 30-40 cm. Trench 2 undisturbed earth at 40cm. Abandoned digging and left - to be covered with dump and out of sight again.

Trench 18 out where Penny dug last year, put down perpendicular to long trench, high surface count and small rock fragments. Subsoil free of rocks and undisturbed soil at 10cm. Image of trench location

Shallow humus indicates eroded land.

Trench 19 paralled to main find; 2 m. wide. Earth full of small stones, hit bedrock at only 4cm, 10cm in from perpendicular trench and 1m. from "wall".

Finds: Good deal of tile and pottery. Metal blade about 10cm. Found about 1m 50 in. from perpendicular trench, 1m 20 h. main trench.
