In an attempt to square up the trench according to the orientation of the building walls, two new trenches, 1M and 1N were laid out as in the diagram below. The wall continued south throughout the length of 1M, which ran along the wall 12.15m and extended out 80cm east of it. Topsoil was cleared in 1N north of the wall. There were no finds, and tile was extremely light over the wall but very heavy - three boxes - in the 80 cm strip east of it.
