Description:

Locus 41 is a claylike, medium olive-brown colored, and moderately compacted soil deposit, located in the central meters of the trench. It is located to the east of the southern wall of the small rectilinear structure that was built atop EPOC4’s front porch (Locus 42) and stratigraphically overlies this wall. It is bounded to the east by section cuts made in previous excavation seasons. As such, it also is a small deposit, measuring only 40cm in width and 70cm in length.

Soil from Locus 41 was excavated using hand-picks and trowels and soil was hand-sorted in the trench, but not sieved. Little material culture was recovered from this locus.

As Locus 41 is positioned stratigraphically above the southern wall of the small rectilinear structure overlying EPOC4’s front porch, it must postdate both the small rectilinear structure and EPOC4 itself. However, it is unclear to which chronological phase of the site this deposit dates.
