The third layer was taken off all through the trench. The ground like slopes upwards towards the agger. Right at the SW end a cluster of stones appeared. In other parts of the trench lose stones and patches of bedrock. In grid B8 there was a heavy concentration of horserace fragments (from at least three plaques), lateral sima and tiles.

The pieces were fired badly and crumbled. A piece of seated figures (throne and lower part of 2nd seated figure) was found at grid I 12 and it was discovered that is joined a piece from A2 (68-307). In all 11 boxes of tiles were dumped. A couple of crudley

fired bricks were found at H-F 12-13 and a very small bronze fibula at D2.
