Cut 5 continues east into U-V 22-23, bringing the trench to a depth of 1.20 m.  The dark brown soil level occurs at 1.10 m.  The souding at gamma-epsiolon 28-29 is expanded to the west in delat-epsilon 28, 27... in order to trace the possible extension of the wall here and to find its termination, since the western section of the EW wall clearly ends in delta-epsilon 19.  It is decided to stop trench U-V 17-23 at the pont where cut 5 was completed through 21.  In the eastern half of the trench we have reached and removed the first 5.10 cm. of burn layer.  We wil leave a layer of yellow soil in the western half to protect teh burn layer, if indeed it does continue here.  The trench is swept for photos.  The enlargement of delta-epsion 28 to the west is 2 m. in lenght, sothat 27 and 26 are now included.  Again the area is completely filled with large and small stones which slope to the south.  Tiles: .5 cassetta  Pottery: 2 boxes
