The workmen are finishing this stratum at the north end of the trench, grids B-A 8-4, before recommencing in F-E 8-4 and going down another 10-20 cm.  More large pieces of pan tile.

It has been decided not to go down any further.  The workman is finishing the excavation of our wheelbarrow ramp in grids F-A 8-7.  Profiles will be drawn of the chalky-white layer in the fallen rock fill along wall 2 and along the north side of the trench, grids A 8-4.  Also the extent of the fallen wall 2 into grids F-a 5-4 will be drawn.  The new plan

is not t oclean down the entire last face of wall 2 but instead only a meter and a half in the NW corner, approx. grids B-A 5-4 and to make a E-W cut to determine whether or not wall 2 bonds with the S wall of the upper building.

The E-W cut will be continued up to wall 1 along the S wall of the upper building up to the SW corner to determine whether wall 1 bonds with the SW corner wall.

The NW corner of the trench has produced more, larger pieces of pan and covertile, a few coarse potsherds, and a few bucchero sherds including one with a panther's head (see p. 32).  Also a few more bits of burnt material and carbon.
