1R Tilebed cleaned and photographed. Tiles lifted. 30 boxes. Several oddly shaped pieces found with curves similar to the pieces found July 7.
1Q The trench was taken down slightly more and the cleaning of the wall begun. Along the southern edge the second (lower) course of the wall began to appear quite clearly. At 4.10m E and 2.00m N over the wall a small piece of cornice was found which proved to be the upper left-hand corner of #2 ( p. 30 ).
