Morning

Began cleaning down grid 48 to "floor" level. The "floor" or hard packed plaster dows not seem to extend beyond the southern half of the grid epsilon. The concetration of vitrified matter continued around the pan and cover tiles in epsilon/48. From the northern edge of grid deltasouthward to the "floor" a clean up, leaving most pottery on "floor" level "in situ," was made for documentation. A lot of redware was unearthed - once again in isolated icnidents - especially in grid delta. Grid gamma was cleaned down to the pre-existing T-25 (1982) trench floor level with a pick. Some tile and pottery was found. At approximately 70 cm the soil became yellow and powdery. A few carbon flecks appeared in this cut. In the northeast corner of gamma/48 there is a high concentration of tile and stone. The

very northeast corner of gamma was left unexcavated at the base of the trench as there was a high concentration of tile emerging from the eastern baulk wall.
