June 7, 1877

Work continued on the pottery deposit in grids K-L/42-43.  The entire deposit, which seems to continue into the next cut (grid L/44) was lifted.  Among the sherds was a large quantity of carbon, as well as hard-packed plaster, heavily burnt.

After the pottery deposit was lifted, work began in grids J-N/40-41, removing the dark brown II stratum.
