Methodology

T-91 was laid out on the mastergrid system established for the site. The survey was conducted from the permanent marker located at 150-E/68-E.

The trench was excavated stratigraphically.

Datum point:

Located on a tree situated near the northeast corner of the trench at 28.74 m. above absolute elevation.

Measurements:

Terracotta was measured by volume utilizing a plastic bowl with a diameter of 30 cm. and a depth of 10 cm.

Bulk pottery and bone were measured by volume utilizing a latte box of one liter capacity.

Pick pass:

Excavation method used for the most part. The soil was first picked, then it was shoveled into buckets and sorted into a wheelbarrow or troweled and sorted into a bucket, before being dumped into a wheelbarrow.

Note on Special Find drawings:

The measurements given for the drawings are only rough approximations for identification purposes.

Note on co-ordinate elevation measurements:

The measurements given were taken in the location nearest the particular grid co-ordinates that best represented the height of the locus in that area.

Further notes:

Bulk pottery, bone and terracotta counts in the Daily Log do not take into account Special Finds. This is true for all EC trench books.

Pottery and Bone Summaries in all EC trench books do not take into account Special Finds unless explicidly stated.
