Work confined to magazzino due to rain.

Tile: 2, Pottery: 1/2

Using fixed points on the column bases in T-26 the area of T-27 was charted and piccheti set out.  For the T-27 grid system see

Work continued with the area directly west of T-27 cut to open the trench.  The stratigraphy remains the same throughout the area: dark brown, rooty humus and top soil to ~10-15 cm followed by ~5-10 cm of greyish brown claylike soil with small stones which quickly becomes a densely packed layer.

Among the seemingly arbitrary fragments were found a badly worn piece of frieze plaque (banquet) and a large mass of corroded iron -- possibly a fibula.
