Agger 8

We have extended the western cut along agger 1 and 2 wiht the intention of freeing that flank. The agger stones may be seen on Linden's plan. Under the agger stones te usual layer of tiles. Within these:

The sherds are few and will be desinated to the W of hte wal (ie.outside the structure) and to the E (ie. within the room,near pavement). the NW room, partially excavated by Penny Small, has been explored,except  for the NW corner.

The exterior wall facem in line with that of Ag 6 + 7 , clearly shows while the interior is more difficult to define. In 1967 one small test trench was sunk in this room and a large quantity of pithoi frag were found. For this reason, we are not digging down around the foundations of the interior face of the wall). the cross wall dividing this room from that to the west is made of packed earth. We cut throught this on its western side and are followtin it to fin the angles ( drawing ).

Few sherds appear yet directly on the foundations are two pieces of thick storage jars, docoratd with a rope pattern, and one piece of decorated pottery.
