Work began with pick axing the eastern and southern meters of the trench.  Soil remains mottled; there are high concentrations of terracotta, plaster, and carbon bits, causing the soil to appear either pink or yellow.  Soil is shovelled directly into the wheelbarrow and sorted there.  While picking the eastern portion of the trench, a rocchetto ( Find #1 ) was found.  Once this first pick pass was completed, a second was initiated, starting with the northwest quarter of the trench.  During this pick pass, a portion of a crucible ( Find #2 ) and a piece of a ridgepole tile ( Find #3 ) were found.

Another ipck pass was made throughout the entire trench.  Upon comppletion of this pick pass, the northwest corner of the trench was picked.  Closing elevations were taken.
