We will now close locus 10 and open a small section in what was locus 10 which will now be declared locus 24. Locus 24 will be a section through the floor level of OC3 which we hope will allow us to better understand the plaster deposit resting on top of the floor. Locus 24 contains a white/yellow hardpacked soil which is associated with the orientalizing floor. There is little to no material in this stratum. The coordinates and elevations for this locus are:
- NW - 137.89mE/25.58mS - 28.37m
- NE - 138.40mE/25.68mS - 28.38m
- SE - 138.40mE/26.21mS - 28.36m
- SW - 137.89mE/26.19mS - 28.36m
Photographs Taken
We are now beginning to trowel through locus 24. Underneath the white hardpacked soil we are uncovering a more medium brown soil that is still hard packed. We have recovered a few pieces of pottery and tile in this stratum. We will no uncover this brown soil. As the locus 24 soil has now been completely removed we will close this locus. Trench SF-2 will now be cleaned for final photos and closed. This trench will be backfilled.
