Daily Log

29 July 2014

Excavation began in the second extent of T-66, the area designated as Locus VI . Excavation began with a pick done through the extent of the entire locus. Methodology of excavation remains the same- pickaxes are used to break up loose dirt which is then picked up with shovels. The dirt is shoveled into buckets that are then dumped into a wheelbarrow. The dirt from the wheelbarrow is sorted by hand and then dumped to the south of the trench. Once the loose dirt from that pick was cleared, another pick directly followed. Rocks in Locus VI continued to be defined. Once the loose dirt from the pick completed in Locus VI was cleared, another pick was immediately done. As soon as the loose dirt was cleared, excavation was halted because of rain.
