Trench Layout
T26 is an irregularly shaped rectilinear trench composed of a 7 meter x 3 meter section and a 2 meter by 2 meter section. The 2 meter x 2 meter section is located 2 meters from the northern baulk wall and extends to the east between 177E and 179E. It encompasses portions of earlier T26 trenches including the T26 2019 (AJT/NKDII). The trench was triangulated off a longitudinal baseline along gridline 174E and a latitudinal baseline along gridline 68S. The coordinates of the trench are as follows:
· NW corner: 174E/64S
· SW corner: 174E/71S
· SE1 corner: 177E/71S
· SE2 corner: 177E/68S
· E1 corner: 179E/68S
· E2 corner: 179E/66S
· NE1 corner: 177E/66S
· NE2 corner: 177E/64S
A datum point with an absolute elevation of 27.92 meters on the master grid has been established on a tree to the west of the trench.
