Work initiated with the excavation of grids A-B/4-5 revealing an abundance of coarse ware pottery and bucchero fragments located in a dark brown layer of soil approx. 43cm below the level surface.  Stratigraphy reveals an upper layer of brown soil and humus, a middle layer of dark brown soil intermixed with carbon and a lower layer of what appears to be gallestra (for stratigraphy see p. 12).
