Daily Log

July 1, 1975

Excavation continued in grid K-L/26, cleaning the yellow stratum and tile layer.  The heavy tile fall, so far, seems to be contained to grids J-K/26.  The pottery is more scarce in grids K-L/26 than it was in grids K-L/27.

Excavation also continued in grid I/32, T-19.  A heavy layer of plaster, some of it red in color, was encountered.  In the eastern end of grid I/31, a large coarseware pot (only partially preserved) was found imbedded in the ground covered by a tile which seems to have fallen on it and smashed it.  When excavated, a heavy carbon deposit was found underneath the pot.  Since this carbon deposit is in a lower stratum, it is being left for the time being.
