27/7/11 AM A pick pass was done in the western half of the trench. Soil is damp from yesterday's rain, so there are no detectable/visible soil change. Soil was sorted into buckets and dumped. Terracotta was collected into a bucket to be measured into a latte later and pottery was collected in a separate latte. While sorting terracotta, a frieze plaque fragment was found, with part of the guilloche preserved. Another pick pass was done in the eastern half of the trench. Soil was sorted into buckets and dumped. Terracotta was put into the bucket and pottery into

the latte. Another pick pass was done in the western half of the trench. Soil was sorted into buckets and dumped. The next pass was completed in the eastern half of the trench. After the last pick pass in the western half, a few medium sized rocks became visible. While picking in the eastern half, these rocks were further defined to see their current extent. One meter leveling pass was done in the middle of the trench between the eastern and western halves. After sorting the loose soil, there was s slightly visible layer of rocks and large fragments of terracotta. It started to rain, so to avoid creating too much loose soil in case we had to stop work and as to not damage the visible terracotta fragments, we refrained from doing another pick pass and defined the rocks and terracotta fragments with trowels. The work day was cut short about 30 minutes
