We dig deeper and northward in K 90 to expose the covertile associated with the female antefix found yesterday. The covertile, like that removed yesterday is wholly preserved. We removed much of the soil to the west adn south of the nearby stump, in L 88-89, which exhibits much the same stratigraphy as the area which yielded the antefixes. These areas give less than a latte box of pottery adn 1.5 cassette of tile and less than one of plaster. We complete the 10-20 cm cut in m 91-92 reaching and cleaning the top of a tile/rock concentration (tile , 2 cassette; plaster, 1+; pottery, 1+ latte box). We clean down to floor level (as defined in O 89) in O 91-92 and R 91 reaching ca 15 cm from the curface. The dark almost black soil produces less than .5 cassetta of tile and a small amount of plaster adn pottery.
are taken of teh floor, column bases, tile concentration and the soil from within the covertile lifted yesterday. We also begin removing the tile fragments laid out and sorted across the floor of T26, the project of systematically seeking joins abandonned a week ago in favor of actual digging. The fragments constitute the greater part of teh material from the tile/plaster/rock concentrations that characterize this plaster burn soil between topsoil and floor (or floor coating). Here we shall tabulate, in cassette, the amount of tile this deposite - of these deposits - produced up to a week ago adn teh proportional breakdown of the fragments. Note that only the reasonably large fragments were laid out adn that the results cover an area measuring
c. 4 by 9 m.
