STRATEGY: Clear silt from beneath the rubble pile (2573) in an attempt to trace the surface of the reddish clay seen to the north and east.

SUMMARY: Excavation of the silt in the southwest corner revealed a dip in the reddish clay, which slopes down to the west (not as dramatically as on the other side, where it slopes down into the Death Pit). Minimal cleaning of leftover silt above the reddish clay was added to lot 2708.
