The testcut was finished.  it was taken down to the level where stone foundations appeared clearly enough to be drawn by the architect.  The line of stones which encloses the cut to the E and W can be traed roughly throughout the cut.  Groups of stones, more or less in rounded formations were found in six places which are indicated on the plan.  The first, the second, and the sixth (counted from the E) form circles (more or less complete) and all of them migh be interpreted as foundations for columns.  The more irregular

formations might be remains of such.  All have some connection with the line of large stones which then continues westward through T2 to the Western flank of the Sanctuario.

The cut produced 2 boxes of tiles and 2 strawberry cartons of sherds and bones.  Nothing outstanding.

TESTCUT TESORO 2

A new test cut was started.  First the grass and weeds from T2 were removed.  The cut has a very specific purpose - to investigate the E end of the crosswall between Rectangle 12 and 13 as it merges with the E wall of the Western flank of the Sanctuario.  This

appears as an empty space on the present plan, and it remains to be seen where, and if, the foundations can be picked up.  Iit is also a matter of definning the Western most end of the line of stones described earlier.  This was first excavated T2 and described by BH book 1, 1966, pp. 83 ff. Reference will be given to the 1966 plan, but the procedure of this testcut will be described here.
