Daily Log
June 26: Tuesday
The west flank of the eastern wall was cleared to a point just beyond the two large boulders which rest on or near its end. Grids E and F. The removal of a large stump between E and F lifted 8 stones form the face of the wall at this point- through the presense of a stump at this point tends to indicate a break in the course of masonary large enough to permit its growth. At the end of Grid F the slope of the agger quickly discends toward the south, the slope at present, apparently composed of a sotne fall inter mixed with a number of larger boulders.
By morning's end the stone packing had been cleared down on the west, south and east flank of the agger. A discernable top surface of the eastern wall is not apparent in grid 5/F-H as it is in grids 5/A-C. The west wall appears to have fallen even more to the west in grids E-H and the fill earth between the two walls has a number of large rocks resting upon its surface.
