AM

This morning excavation of Locus 2 continued.

Opening Elevations:

NW: 27.87 m. A.E.

NE: 27.80 m. A.E.

SE: 27.79 m. A.E.

SW: 27.88 m. A.E.

Methodology will remain the same as before with picks beginning in the east and pulling back to the west, completed in two sections. The first section is the 1 meter by 1.5 meter strip from the eastern wall to the center of the trench. The second section is the 1.5 meter by 2.4 meter section from the center of the trench pulling to the west wall. Once full pick pass was completed and the dirt was sorted for materials then put into the dirt dump. Materials remain the same as Friday, the soil is full of large architectural tile and heavily eroded pottery. It was decided that the dirt from the second full pick pass would be sent down to the magazzino for the floatation team to analyze. The approximate elevation for the soil sample is 27.72 m. A.E. The dirt from the full pass was sorted as carefully as possible then put into buckets and set aside until soil bags are brought up by the floatation team.
