T6E (2)

Excavation continued on 3.5 metre strip B-I 14-17.  Four boxes of tiles were dumped.  A new four metre extension was also begun covering the area B-I 18-21.  Found: sima fragment F19 and piece of banquet frieze F20.

T6E (1)

Work was continued in the remaining cut towards the W.  More pieces of procession frieze were found, as before along the line of grid N-O.  The fragments were numerous but very small, and the process of excavating was therefore slow and time consuming.

All of the dump from T2 was finally removed and a new trench laid out in its former place.  The purpose of this trench is to define the building excavated in T6C, D and E.  The complex will be called T6F.  It measures

12 m N-S and 6m E-W, bordering on the T6D and T6E as appears on the plan p. 119A.

Topsoil was taken off, starting from the S. edge of the trench.  2 boxes of tiles were dumped.  2 pieces of cornice were found in the topsoil.  it appeared that the thin layer of topsoil was mixed with numerous small white stones of the type that was noticed in T6D in the SE corner of the trench, S of the S wall ( see p. 73 )
