Excavation of B-H, 13-14 was concluded. Finds included:
- Find # 4
- E14
- frieze fragment (campstool)
2 1/2 boxes of tiles were dumped during the conclusion of work in this area.
The excavation of this area showed that the orange plaster pavement continued in squares B 13 + B 14, and that the mass of bedrock mentioned on page 77 continued northward through squares H 13 + H 14. In addition to this mass of bedrock there was also disclosed another line of bedrock in squares D 13 +D 14 which paralleled the one further to the west. These two lines of bedrock combine to form a deep (over a metre) ditch which continues the line of the depression in the area of yellow earth farther to the south. In this area the differientiation between the two strata of productive earth (cf p. 76 ) was much less. Instead, the presence of the eastern line of bedrock brought about a division in the productive zone (productive of architectural terracottas)
between 1) the "ditch", and 2) the oven in squares B + C, 13 + 14 which overlies the area of the plaster pavement. Under the stratum comprising 2) above was found not only the continuation of the orange plaster pavement, but also an adjacent deposit of blackened earth which produced the finds mentioned on page 81 . (The finds listed on page 79 are from the upper stratum.) Plan and profile of this area are on the .
An extension 2 metres wide was laid ouot. The area included B-H, 15-16. The area was especially productive. Finds included:
