Tools: trowels, buckets, wheelbarrow, hand clippers, dustpans

Soil: wet and muddy from rain over the weekend

Passes: trowel through the southern 1/3 of the trench

Morning spent straightening the baulk walls. Trench wet from the rain over the weekend so soil is wet and muddy and it is hard to see any type of soil changes. The tree was supposed to come down over the weekend but did not because the chainsaw was broken. Began to uncover the tile spread that was uncovered on 18/6/2004. Tiles cover the area from the southwest corner to the tree. See JBBI for possible correlating tile spread, p. 43 -55.

12:30pm - 3:30pm

Tools: trowels, buckets, wheelbarrows, hand clippers, dustpan, plumb bob, line level, tape measure

Soil: yellow/brown crumbly

Passes: continue trowelling through southern 1/3 of the trench

Continue to uncover the tile spread moving from the south baulk toward the north baulk. Tile uncovered to stump approximately 1/3 of the way through the trench becoming less as moving north. Possibly need to go deeper as the trench is on a slope with elevation to the south. Working on uncovering tile and will define in a few days.
