June 6, 1978

Continued work in G-H 28-30.  A heavy rock pack of large stones lies above F.  The workmen began to clear the topsoil in I and J but encountered large rocks directly beneath the few inches of top soil that had collected on them.

Work this afternoon consisted of an additional cut int C-D/28-30.  A rock packing was encountered in this area with occasional tile fragments.  The only find of the day was an impasto fragment of a "potnia therone"

handle found near the surface of the slope.
