Continued trimming baulk in Trench Ag9BT in meters E125-128, S20-21 in order to obtain a section.  A layer of decayed leaves was removed in the northern portion of trench Ag9BT in meter E125, S19, as well as dark brown soil with a very low concentration of terracotta.  It was determined that this region contained washout from a previously-existing dirt dump in these meters of trench Ag9BT (E125, S16-19).

Washout continued to be cleared from the region of trench Ag9BT in meters E125-128, S20-21.  Beneath

the washout along the northern baulk, a line of stones, approximately 138 cm long, was exposed.  The stones were defined, photographed and left in situ.  The soil in which the stones were found was a yellowish brown with small flecks of carbon and a high concentration of tile and ceramic.  Among this soil a bucchero tondo fragment was found (find #1).  An approximate depth in this region of the line of stones was recorded at 50-55 cm.b.d.  In this work the bottom surface of 1 cassetta* was filled with small terracotta

*cassetta measurement is 50x30 cm.

fragments (approx. 5-10 cm) and 1 latte box of ceramic and bone was recovered.  5 fragments of bone, 3 pieces of bucchero, 9 fragments of orangeware, 12 fragments of worn impasto, 7 pieces of coarseware, and 1 fragment of vitrified impasto were found.  A horizontal rim, possibly Greek, was designated Find #2.
