Excavations were begun in CA 78. Locus 1 was declared over the entire trench. The trench was cleared of all vegetation, opening photos were taken with the site camera and the helicopter camera. Opening elevations were taken. The trench has 5 groups of stumps spread through it and a medium (~20 cm) sized rock in the northeastern corner. In the southeastern corner is a spread of visible tile (old dump?). The western baulk wall catches the corner of what may be bedrock. The soil is a dark brown humus layer.
