Bone Summary
Overall, bone was scarce in CA41. Only 20 fragments, including long bones and vertebrae were recovered from locus 2. However, bone occured in high concentration in a lense feature in meters N 3-4, W 1-3, under the stone formation. All bone fragments were recovered form olive brown soil. 360 fragments (teeth, jaw parts, long bones, joints, ribs, falanges) came from loci 4, 5, 7, 11, 13, 15. Loci 12 and 16, baulk trim, produced 7 bone fragments, including teeth, jaw parts and a large femur. Two of the bone fragments (Find #1, p. 83, Find #6, p. 105), both from locus 11, showed signs of working
or butchering.
Also two fragments of an antler with cut marks were found in locus 11 (Suppl. Find # 7, p. 104)
Other organic material found in CA41 included a fragment of sea shell (Find #4, p. 101) in locus 11.
