Tile:  3          Pottery: 3

A cast was taken of #5 footprint (a sandal print).  #4 was cleaned down with arexone to remove traces of plaster.  #5 was lifted with no apparent damage.

OP/71-75 continued to be excavated to approximately floor level.  In OP/71-72, the plaster layer to the bottom of the cut remained heavy with some tile in and above it. Burn flecks and disintigrated plaster (some vitrified and/or burned) were found.  All types of pottery were found, from pithos to very fine bucchero.  Additionally, a number of incised ivory or bone fragments were found throughout OP/71/75, including a fragment of lotus and palmette plaque.  An impasto rochetto with incised decoration was also found.

In OP/71, the burn layer continued towards 72, staying black and almost greasy in texture.  Many small pieces of gronne sheet were found around it.  Burned pottery was found, too, but not much.

About 1/2 cassetta of flat-edged plaster was removed, mostly from P/71.  Much of the tile was unburned, though some was vitrified or showed evidence of some burning.  Carbon flecks were found throughout.

See AC IV for continuation.
